Dr. Ryne P. Raffaelle is a Professor of Physics and Microsystems Engineering at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). He has served as the Director of the NanoPower Research Labs at RIT since its inception in 2001. He was recently named the Academic Director of the newly established Golisano Institute for Sustainability at RIT. His current research is focused on the use of epitaxially grown III-V quantum dots for high efficiency multi-junction solar cells as well as the development of new nanomaterial systems for the use in hybrid polymer based photovoltaic devices.
Dr. N. J. Ekins-Daukes was awarded his Ph.D. in Solid State Physics from Imperial College London, U.K. for his work on the application of strain-balanced quantum wells in photovoltaic devices. He subsequently worked at the Toyota Technological Institute in Japan on multi-junction III-V and intermediate band solar cells. He then moved to Australia working at the University of Sydney on 3rd generation photovoltaic devices and was also a visiting research fellow at the University of New South Wales. He returned to England in 2007 and is a lecturer in Physics at Imperial College London, U.K.
