Chalcogenide glasses are one of the most important photonics materials. Glass science and material application are multidisciplinary subjects covering condensed matter physics, solid state chemistry, as well as optical engineering. This book provides a comprehensive overview of the chalcogenide glass science and various applications based on the glasses. It starts with a review on the glass-forming ability of various systems, followed by a discussion on the structural and physical properties of various chalcolgenide glasses and their application in integrated optics. The chapters have been contributed by prominent experts from all over the world, and therefore, the book presents the recent research advances in the area. This book will appeal to anyone who is involved in glass science and technology and glass application.
About the Editor:
Rongping Wang received his Ph.D degree in Physics in 2000 from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Since then he had been working in various materials including crystalline semiconductor thin films and non-crystalline glasses in Japan. In 2005, he moved to Laser Physics Centre, The Australian National University(ANU), where he worked on structural and physical properties of chalcogenide bulk glasses and thin films. Currently he is a Fellow with the Research School of Physics and Engineering, ANU, where his current research interests are searching for the best glasses with high optical nonlinearity and stable structure for application in photonics.
