Cancer research world is positively looking to bio-nanotechnology to find best solutions for a complete cure from cancer, which is not possible with current established treatment methods and nowadays lot of research work is going on in this field. However, during the past more than one decades of our research in the “Nano imaging and drug delivery” field against cancer, though we came across many interesting papers and reviews, we couldn’t see a highly useful book, which can provide very concise but still discussing all fields that related to nano cancer research in diagnosis and Drug delivery. To fill this vacuum, we bring forward the book “Bio Nanotechnology in Cancer: Diagnosis and Therapy”. This book has been mainly divided into two parts primarily to accommodate the latest bio-nano research in the cancer related field; namely, Nanodiagnostics and Nanotherapeutics and having 12 Chapters in total. This book starts with an Introduction chapter to provide the back ground of Cancer and Cancer therapy. In Chapters 2-6, under the “Nano Diagnostics” section, we are discussing almost all diagnostic methods in cancer related therapy. In these Chapters, we are presenting about (2) Radiolabeled Nanoparticles for Cancer Diagnosis, (3) Magnetic Nanoparticles for Cancer Diagnosis, (4) Acoustically Reflective Nanoparticles for Tumor Diagnosis, (5) X-ray Computed Tomography and Nanomaterials as Contrast Agents for Tumor Diagnosis and (6) Optical Nanoprobes for Diagnosis. In Chapters 7-12, we are presenting different methods of Nanotherapy such as, (7) Nanomaterials in Chemotherapy, (8) Nanoparticles in Immunotherapy against cancer, (9) Nano mediated Genetherapy – SiRNA delivery, (10) Phototherapy using nanomaterials, (11) Nanomagnets and magnetic hyperthermia and (12) Multifunctional nanomaterials based theranostics.
We are confident that, for readers, our book will act as the gateway to enter into the beautiful and elegant field of Bio Nanoscience which is considered as the last hope for the fight against cancer and will serve as highly resourceful for students, researchers and teachers working in this field or related fields.
