Shamil Shaikhutdinov
Shamil Shaikhutdinov received his PhD in 1986 from the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology studying microwave properties of inorganic materials. Then he moved to the Boreskov Institute of Catalysis (Novosibirsk) to work on the “surface science” of catalytic reactions, in particular employing scanning tunneling microscopy. After several postdoc positions in Germany and France, he has been, since 2004, leading the group “Structure and Reactivity” at the Fritz-Haber Institute (Berlin). His research is focused on understanding the atomic structure and surface chemistry of functional materials.
