
Zhaowei Liu
Zhaowei Liu is associate professor at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD). He received his BS and MS in physics from Nanjing University, Nanjing, China, in 1998 and 2001, respectively. From 2001 to 2006, he worked as a research assistant at the University of California, Los Angeles, where he obtained his PhD in mechanical and aerospace engineering in 2006. From 2006 to 2008, he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley. He joined the faculty of the Department of Engineering and Computer Engineering, UCSD, in 2008 as assistant professor and in July 2014 became associate professor. Prof. Liu has received many awards, including the SME Outstanding Young Manufacturing Engineer Award (2010), the Young Investigator Award from the Office of Naval Research (2013), and the Young Faculty Award from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (2013). He became an Optical Society of America (OSA) fellow in 2016. He has coauthored more than 90 research articles. His research interests include nanophotonics, super-resolution ultrafast imaging, biophotonics, metamaterials, plasmonics, energy, light-emitting diodes (LEDs), and micro-/nanofabrication.
