Two-photon absorption materials have attracted increasing attention because of their various applications, such as 3D microfabrication, optical power limiting, optical data storage, two-photon-excited fluorescence imaging and two-photon photodynamic therapy. In any of these applications, compounds with large two-photon absorption coefficients are indispensable. Hence, the design of efficient two-photon absorption compounds is one of the most important challenges.
This book describes effective strategies for designing efficient two-photon absorption compounds. Not only experimental examples but also recent progresses in theoretical aspects are discussed. Furthermore, specific design strategies of compounds for important applications, data storage and biological imaging are described.
